Inter Milan have confirmed that Ghana international Sulley Muntari has handed in a transfer request.
The 26-year-old is keen on regular first-team action, after making just 12 appearances for the Italian side this season.
Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing the highly-rated midfielder in the current transfer window.
“He [Muntari] has made himself available to leave as long as a team wants him and is interested in him,” Inter Milan technical director Marco Branca told Sky Italia.
“He is a lad who is close to us, he is a good person, even though he expresses opinions of someone who wants to play.”
