Napoli eyeing Varela move

The Metro understands that Napoli are lining up a January move for Manchester United defender Guillermo Varela.

The Uruguayan, who was the first player signed by former Red Devils’ boss David Moyes two and a half years ago finally made his first Premier League start in Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth.
However, Napoli are keen to make a move for him when the transfer window reopens and should they sign him, may send him out on loan for the rest of this season.

The 22 year old spent the whole of last season on loan with Real Madrid Castilla, for whom he played thirty-three times, scoring once.

Internationally, he has been capped by his country at U17 and U20 levels, making fourteen appearances for the latter.

After that defeat at the weekend, Louis van Gaal’s side sit four points behind leaders Arsenal and can now be backed at 9/1 to win the league.
