Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will face each other at Camp Nou this coming Saturday. The La Liga match is slated to kick off at 3:15pm UK time and promises to be a cracking game of football, one that could prove to decide the title.

Barcelona

Barcelona are third in the La Liga table at the moment with 74 points from 34 matches. Ronald Koeman’s side are level on points with second-placed and defending champions Real Madrid and only two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid. The Blaugrana were fighting for a place in the top four in the table in the opening months of the season, but now with just four rounds of games remaining, they could actually end the coming weekend on top of the standings.

Koeman’s side will head into the game against Atletico on the back of a 3-2 victory over Valencia away from home in La Liga. It followed a shock 2-1 defeat to Granada at Camp Nou.

Team News:

Lionel Messi, who scored twice against Valencia, and Antoine Griezmann, who found the back of the net once against Los Che, will lead the line for Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid

Not so long ago it seemed that Atletico Madrid were set to win the La Liga title this season. Barcelona were struggling to keep pace with the top four, and Real Madrid looked lacklustre. However, in recent weeks and months, Diego Simeone’s side have struggled to maintain consistency, and now with just four more rounds of matches left this season, they could end up third, perhaps even fourth.

The Madrid outfit will head into the match against Barcelona on Saturday afternoon on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Elche away from home in La Liga. It followed a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on the road.

Team News:

Luis Suarez, who has scored 19 goals in La Liga this season, will lead the line for Atletico against the club he left last summer.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Atletico Madrid have scored 61 goals and conceded 22 goals in La Liga.
  • Barcelona have scored 80 goals and conceded 33 goals in La Liga.
  • Lionel Messi has scored 28 goals and provided nine assists in La Liga.
  • Luis Suarez has scored 19 goals and provided two assists in La Liga.
  • Atletico Madrid beat Barcelona 1-0 in La Liga in November 2020.

Conclusion

Barcelona have conceded more goals than they should have, but Koeman’s side are banging in the goals for fun. It promises to be an exciting game of football, one which Simeone will try to win by a goal or two without committing too many men forward.

Prediction: Match to end in 1-1 draw
