With the chance to book their spot in the semi-final of this year’s League Cup, high flyers Rennes will travel to the Stade Louis II on Wednesday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while many would have hoped that the arrival of Thierry Henry could improve the atmosphere around the Stade Louis II, the former Ligue 1 champions still find themselves drastically short of form and battling it out in the relegation zone. Just scraping a 1-0 win over lower league Canet Roussillion last weekend, their form on home soil has also been a huge concern for Monaco fans. Already four points adrift of safety, Henry’s men have managed to record just one home win in their last 13 matches on home soil and have scored just two goals at the Stade Louis II in their last six matches.

As for the visitors, in stark contrast to Monaco’s struggles this season, few would have predicted Rennes’ empathic finish to 2018. Picking up a penalties victory over Brest in the Coupe de France over the weekend, Julien Stéphan’s side are now enjoying a six-match winning run across all competitions. Also booking their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Europa League, Wednesday’s visitors have been particularly impressive on their travels. Picking up three points away at Lyon last month, Rennes are unbeaten in their last five domestic away games.
