Song linked with Premier League return

Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is expected to return to English Premier League at the end of the current campaign, Marca has revealed.

The Cameroon international is unhappy at the lack of playing time at Camp Nou and it is believed he will request a transfer in the summer.

And Marca has suggested that the club are unlikely to stand in his way as they look to recoup some of the money invested in him.

With Sergi Roberto proving his worth and Rafinha set to return in the summer, Tata Martino will have enough options in the centre of the park.

Alex Song joined Barcelona in a £15 million deal from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, but he has since made just 31 La Liga appearances for the Catalans.

Having started just eight league fixtures this season and one Champions League encounter, the 26-year-old is widely expected to leave and it is unlikely he will be sorely missed.
