Competition: La Liga

Market: Athletic Bilbao win

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

Hoping to make an immediate return to winning ways, Athletic Bilbao will welcome Celta Vigo to the San Mamés on Sunday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while Athletic Bilbao might have been disappointed to have only collected a single point against Villarreal last weekend, they have continued to impress many across Spain this season. Although the Lions might still face a huge uphill battle if they’re to clinch a European spot, Marcelino’s men have lost just one of their last five La Liga outings. With their sights set on ending the 2021/22 campaign with a flurry, the Basque Country outfit will be boosted by a rather rampant record on home soil. On a run that is highlighted by back-to-back 4-0 and 3-1 victories against Real Sociedad and Levante, Sunday’s hosts are unbeaten in each of their last eight straight contests at San Mamés, a run that stems back to a 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid on December 22nd.

As for the visitors, putting in another flat display last weekend and suffering a 1-0 defeat away at Espanyol, Celta Vigo find themselves in the midst of an extended rut. Collecting just a single point from any of their last four La Liga matchups on either side of March’s international break, Head Coach Eduardo Coudet has come under some recent scrutiny. Still battling it out in the bottom-half of the La Liga table and knowing that they face a tough task at San Mamés, the Sky Blues have won just one of their previous eight outings. With their recent struggle stemming all the way back to February 5th, Celta should also be worried by their most recent meeting against Sunday’s hosts. Hit with a 1-0 loss when they hosted Bilbao back in August, we’re backing a similar home victory for the Lions here.

Bet: Athletic Bilbao 10/11 to beat Celta Vigo in Sunday’s La Liga battle @ 888sport
