Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix believes “everything is possible” as the Eagles chase Conference League glory this season.

Shakhtar Donetsk await Palace in the semi-finals of the competition after Oliver Glasner’s side knocked out Fiorentina in the previous round.

This will be the first major European semi-final for Palace, becoming the 21st English side to reach that stage in Europe. Only Germany have more such teams (26).

The Eagles have impressed in the competition, with no side recording more shots (198), shots on target (65), touches in the opposition box (397) or expected goals (27.8 xG) than Palace in the Conference League this season.

Palace won their first major trophy last year, defeating Manchester City at Wembley Stadium to win the FA Cup.

Lacroix is determined to add the Conference League to Palace’s trophy cabinet, but insisted they will not underestimate Shakhtar.

“I think it’s the experience [which has helped], but it’s also the team because we have really good players,” said Lacroix.

“We showed [at Anfield] that we have the quality to be dangerous. This is what we want to show.

“We want to win another trophy. I think we just say: everything is possible. We showed it last year and I think people, when they come to support us, they see that we can do something this year.

“We want to give them this trophy, but you have to be respectful and start with Shakhtar.”

Palace have failed to win half of their six away games in the Conference League this season (W3 D1 L2), including an away defeat to Fiorentina in the quarter-finals (1-2).

The Eagles started their campaign in Poland, defeating Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah and Daniel Munoz.

“We played already in Poland last time. It’s difficult [with the atmosphere]. But we will go there to win,” added Lacroix.

“We are football players, and we want to win and reach the final.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but we’re going over there to win.”
