Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer could extend his stay at the Allianz Arena for another year, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Neuer is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season.
Falk wrote on his website, CFBayernInsider: “It is TRUE: Manuel Neuer is currently leaning towards signing a contract extension with Bayern Munich.
“This is what we’ve heard internally inside the club.
“Everyone is really positive that the 40-year-old will sign a one-year contract extension.
“He also spoke after the semi-final with Bayer Leverkusen, mentioning that he doesn’t want to announce anything just yet, but perhaps he has a good feeling for the next season.
“That means a lot when Neuer says something like this, because he normally keeps quiet on such topics.
“Now, everybody is hoping that he’ll join Bayern Munich for another season.
“This is, from what I’ve heard, one of the arguments for not playing in the upcoming World Cup, as Manuel Neuer knows he’s 40 years of age, so his body needs a bit of rest in the summer.
“If he were to feature in the tournament, it would be very difficult to then be fit for the entirety of the 2026/27 season.”
