Desperate to gain some much-needed momentum before traveling to Russia later this month, Croatia will welcome fellow World Cup finalists Senegal to Stadion Maksimir on Friday evening.

For Zlatko Dalić’s Croatia side, although The Blazers may have secured an emphatic 4-1 win over Greece in their World Cup playoff, the hosts’ preparations haven’t gone quite to plan. Although they have a squad consisting of Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Mario Mandžukić, Croatia are coming off the back of a 2-0 loss to Brazil at Anfield last weekend and The Blazers have now won just one of their last four. It will be their form in the final third that will be the biggest concern to Dalic, Croatia have now recorded just one goal in their last four and will travel to Russia sharing a group with Argentina, Iceland and Nigeria.

As for Aliou Cissé’s Senegal side, after going unbeaten during their qualifying campaign, The Lions of Teranga will travel to Russia hoping to secure second spot in a group consisting of Columbia, Japan and Poland. Conceding just three goals in the whole of qualifying, Senegal appears to have carried on their impressive defensive record as of late. Coming off the back of a 0-0 draw away at Luxemburg, the visitors have now drawn their last three matches on the bounce and  even more impressive, Senegal have now recorded a clean sheet in four of their last six.
