Barca confirm Todibo signing

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo from Toulouse. The defender will join the La Liga title holders on July 1st, 2019. The contract between Todibo and Toulouse expires at the end of June, which means he will be moving to Camp Nou as a free agent.

The Catalan giants have struggled lately with the centre-back position with Samuel Umtiti set for a long spell on the sidelines and Thomas Vermaelen also out injured. Manager Ernesto Valverde was forced to rely exclusively on the duo of Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet, but they’ve acquired the services of Valencia’s Jeison Murillo on loan for the rest of 2018/19 to bridge the gap in the second half of the season. Though Murillo himself hopes the deal will become permanent, Barca are reportedly still in the market, in search of an experienced, ready-made centre-back.

After his final six months in France, Todibo will spend the pre-season next summer training with Barcelona’s first team, and the level he shows then will determine if he will stay there next season or go out on loan.
