Cesc Fabregas confirmed Nico Paz was taken to hospital after leaving the field during Como’s victory over Genoa, as the attacking midfielder “couldn’t see properly”.
Como boosted their Champions League qualifying hopes on Sunday, with their 2-0 win at Stadio Luigi Ferraris moving them within two points of fourth-place Juventus.
However, Fabregas’ side had to see out the three points without Paz, who was substituted at half-time following a clash of heads with Genoa defender Alessandro Marcandalli.
The 21-year-old subsequently told medical staff he was struggling to see properly out of one eye, so was taken to hospital for further observation.

Sky Sport Italia later confirmed Paz, who has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists for Como in all competitions this season, was released after he was given a clean bill of health.
“Nico is doing better,” Fabregas told reporters during his post-match press conference. “He is in hospital, and they are evaluating him there.
“He was struggling to see properly. In any case, it is important for us to be able to find many different solutions from the team.”
Paz has created a team-leading 48 chances for Como in Serie A this season, providing six assists and scoring 12 goals.
Since he joined Como in August 2024, Paz has missed only four league games, with Fabregas’ team winning just one of those matches, losing twice and drawing the other.
